We thought it appropriate you be aware the composition of the shop where your order is received, packaged and dispatched reflects our commitment to preserve Earth’s limited resources.  Through the use of highly efficient Insulated Concrete Forms, metal roofing, cement fiber siding and a fully sealed building envelope, we are able to maintain a comfortable work environment with limited energy consumption.  Tempered tap water is provided by a tank-less hot water heater and a high efficiency boiler warms our work space with radiant baseboard heat.  Lighting is provided by compact florescent bulbs.

Also, please note we make a point to reuse boxes and packaging material for your order when appropriate.  So, while you may come across a great crossword or Sudoku puzzle in the newspaper wrapping, you may also, on occasion, find your items packaged with an assortment of materials not necessarily associated with being eco-friendly.  Ultimately, given the option of consuming resources to produce new packaging versus reusing something already at our disposal, we thought it best to re-use as much packaging as possible with our outgoing orders.  When the occasion arises and we run out of “old” material our new packaging is recycled from post consumer product and biodegradable.  If your order is being given as a gift and you would like something with a bit more panache, please let us know and we will gladly package it in crisp tissue, the finest brown wrapping paper and handsome string for a few dollars more.

While you will find a nice selection of indoor products on our site, the majority of our offerings concentrate on the best room in your house, the one outside. Research suggests the human connection to nature is biologically innate; simply put, we have an affinity for the natural world around us. Ironically, while outdoor living is essential for the soul, we find that today’s technology often tethers us to the indoors and robs us of the simple pleasure that being out-of-doors can afford.  We hope the unique garden products we carry will help enhance your outdoor living space and encourage you to go out and get your hands dirty.
